The inside of the jacket, which consists entirely of merino wool, provides a unique wearing comfort , while on the outside the HardShell with the highly functional Toray Dermizax®EV membrane with a water column of at least 20,000 mm protects you from wet and cold and is also absolutely windproof.
Thanks to the backing made of 100% merino wool excellent temperature management: the wool of the Merino Guardian Shell ensures rapid vapor transmission, so that no film of moisture can form on the inside and the 3L HardShell also feels dry on the inside. the Merino Guardian Shell can absorb large amounts of moisture and then slowly release it again. This buffering effect is supported by the Derzimax®EV membrane and ensures ideal temperature and moisture management.
Features such as the 2-way adjustable storm hood (helmet-compatible) with horizontal and vertical adjustment options or the width-adjustable hem offer an optimal fit and additional protection in stormy conditions. In the two large front pockets, the inside pocket and the ski pass pocket, you can easily find space for large and small items that you need on a ski tour or for freeriding. And if things get strenuous: the ergonomic underarm ventilation zips can be easily opened and provide additional ventilation. At the same time, innovative processing technologies in the Merino Guardian Shell allow significantly flatter and therefore more durable seams, so that the freeride jacket is more resistant - and you can experience endless powder days.
Merino wool has been an integral part of Ortovox mountain wear since 1995. Ortovox merino wool comes from happy sheep from controlled, species-appropriate sheep farming. the wool is naturally 100% ecological and therefore particularly sustainable. Due to the fine wool threads with a small fiber diameter, merino wool is extremely soft and pleasant on the skin. In addition to comfort, it ensures an optimal body climate, because merino wool regulates moisture and temperature. In addition, it is easy to care for and has an innovative odor thanks to its antibacterial effect.
Dermizax EV works in the same way as the Dermizax NX membrane. It is completely waterproof (min. 20,000 mm) and 100% windproof. breathability is up to 20,000 g/m2/24h and is therefore ideal for freeriding.
