From hiking shoe to climbing shoe
The Wildfire Edge is a technical approach shoe that converts from a hiking shoe to a climbing shoe. Developed together with mountain guides and professional climbers from the Dolomites, the Salewa Switchfit system is as simple as it is clever. Simply thread the laces through the extra eyelet and tighten to change the shape of the shoe. Your foot is now pulled forward and the toes are pressed together like in a climbing shoe. This makes it easier to climb with your toes and step on friction, and increases security on technical terrain. Switching back to hiking boots is done by simply loosening the laces. This widens the toe cap and offers greater comfort when hiking.
Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort: The thin, extremely breathable Gore-Tex® Extended Comfort membrane is located under the very abrasion-resistant upper material (suede leather and microfibre). that protects you from moisture and ensures maximum comfort in a wide variety of weather conditions. It keeps your feet dry, but moisture that builds up in the shoe can still escape.
To improve precision when climbing, the Wildfire Edge is also equipped with an Edging Plate, an inner sole plate under the forefoot, which additionally stiffens this area, which is important when climbing. The rest of the insole remains flexible to ensure high wearing comfort and a natural rolling movement.
Good grip: The Pomoca Speed MTN sole consists of a particularly good grip rubber compound for high friction on slabs and other smooth rock structures. The outsole has special lugs for better traction on muddy and soft ground. It was designed for effective grip in both dry and wet conditions.
Alpine Fit: The Exa Shell structure offers additional torsional stability: it gives the foot support and prevents slipping in the shoe. In addition, your foot is protected by Salewa's 3F system, which guarantees flexibility, a good fit and a firm hold. Climbing lacing, Salewa's climbing shoe lacing, goes all the way to the toes - so you can tighten the shoe better so that it fits precisely. The Wildfire Edge is equipped with the Multi Fit footbed Plus (MFF+), a special footbed that you can adapt to your foot shape with interchangeable layers.
